CHAPS
CHAPS ist ein nicht-denaturierendes zwitterionisches Tensid, das die Vorteile von Gallensäuren und Alkylsulfobetainen vereint. Es wurde erfolgreich für die Solubilisierung und Untersuchung vieler integraler Membranproteine unter Beibehaltung ihrer nativen Struktur eingesetzt, so dass es sogar als Screening-Mittel empfehlenswert ist.
CHAPS ist als Tensid für die Isolierung von membrangebundenen Rezeptoren von großer Bedeutung. Seine hohe CMC zusammen mit seiner cholesterinanalogen zwitterionischen Struktur ermöglicht CHAPS die schonende Solubilisierung einer großen Anzahl von Rezeptoren - z. B. die von Serotonin, Benzodiazepin, Adenosin, DHP, VIP, Sarafotoxin und Endothelin.
CHAPS wird auch häufig für die Untersuchung anderer Membranproteine wie Enzyme, Ionenkanäle oder Photoreaktionseinheiten verwendet.
Es ist ein sehr vielseitiges Produkt und kann sowohl für chromatographische und elektrophoretische Proteintrennungen als auch für Enzymimmunoassays in Betracht gezogen werden.
