Horizontal Electrophoresis
HPE BlueHorizon Flatbed Electrophoresis Unit
The HPETM BlueHorizonTM flatbed gel electrophoresis unit enables a wide range of applications in the separation of proteins and nucleic acids. The central unit is the extremely flat cooling plate, which allows separation in unprecedented resolutions. Easy to operate, low buffer consumption, a variety of available ready-to-use SERVA precast gels. These are just some of the highlights of the HPETM BlueHorizonTM. Up to four units can be stacked and operated under the control of one power supply and one chiller. This enables high throughput in research and diagnostics.
The applications are manifold:
- Isoelectric focusing of food proteins (milk, cereals, meat etc.)
- recombinant antibody separation by IEF or SDS PAGE
- 2D electrophoresis (there is an additional insert for the separation of protein samples in the 1st dimension on IPG strips)
- HCP analysis by 2D HPETM Western blotting
- native electrophoresis
- separation of urinary proteins
- MS/CSF diagnostic and many more.
Developed in Heidelberg and manufactured in Germany by an experienced equipment manufacturer, the device meets all safety requirements. We are happy to offer you IQ and OQ as well as maintenance contracts including PQ.
Isoelectric Focusing
Horizontal isoelectric focusing generates a lot of heat due to the high voltage required (> 2000 V). Therefore, for optimal separation, a system with high cooling efficiency is required, as offered by the HPE™ BlueHorizon™. Protocols are available for many applications, e.g. agricultural crops (corn, wheat, sorghum, carrot, potato etc.), veterinary (pork, beef, turkey, chicken etc.), food (meat, cheese, pasta etc.) and health (MS, EPO, HCP, antibodies etc.).
SDS PAGE
Horizontal SDS PAGE is an option to the conventional vertical separation of proteins. Low buffer consumption, efficient temperature control, sample application in pre-prepared slots and extremely easy handling with high separation performance are clear plus points.SERVA supplies a variety of foil-based ready-to-use gels, both small-format gels from sizes of 50 mm x 42 mm up to large-format gels in the dimensions of 255 mm x 200 mm.
SDS TA PAGE - Excellent Gels
While most pre-made gels for SDS PAGE contain a neutral buffer system, SERVA's Excellent gels are powered by a tris/acetate buffer system that shows comparable banding patterns to Cytiva's (formerly GE Healthcare) Excel™ gels. Particularly suitable for the separation of tissue extracts, caseins, cartilage proteins and many more. Available on regular and non-fluorescent (NF) carrier foils.
2D HPE Gel Electrophoresis
Horizontal 2D HPETM gel electrophoresis combines many advantages like higher resolution with up to 25 % more spots or much lower buffer consumption compared to traditional vertical systems. Easy handling is guaranteed due to the film-backed stabilization of the gels, available in 3 different formats.
CSF separation by IEF
The detection of oligoclonal bands (OB) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is still the most sensitive diagnostic test for multiple sclerosis (MS). With the HPE™ BlueHorizon™ and prefabricated IEF gels for CSF, SERVA offers a reliable system for highest resolution and reproducibility.
Analysis and QC of recombinant antibodies
Use SERVA ready-to-use gels and the HPE™ BlueHorizon™ to screen the quality of recombinant antibodies, either by IEF or SDS PAGE. Reproducible and reliable. Thanks to IQ and OQ, complemented by annual on-site verification by SERVA staff thanks to PQ maintenance contracts. For more information, please contact SERVA Technical Service.
Proteinuria analysis
The SDS urine gel is optimised for the separation of urine proteins and provides reliable and reproducible results in horizontal gel electrophoresis. This kit allows the simultaneous analysis of up to 25 samples including marker lanes, the maximum loading volume is 15 µl.
HCP analysis by 2D HPE Western blotting
The development of SERVA 2D HPETM BlotGels for Western blotting provides a powerful state-of-the-art tool for HCP analysis by gel-based electrophoretic separation of samples. After 1D and 2D electrophoresis, gel is easly separated from the carrier foil and samples are transferred to a membrane by semi-dry blotting and subsequently detected by HCP-specific antibodies. Gels are avaiable in three formats as large, double and triple gel with a size of 250 mm x 110 mm x 0.65 mm
Nucleic acid separation
Horizontal separation of DNA fragments in polyacrylamide gels can be performed with highest resolution using suitable buffer systems offered by SERVA. For SSCP analysis, the pre-prepared CleanGels are rehydrated with electrophoresis buffer shortly before use.
