CoolBox™ XT and
double-capacity CoolBox™ 2XT workstations are benchtop cooling stations that
provide over 16 hours of ice-free cooling for your samples without electricity
or batteries. A patent-pending dual-phase XT Cooling Core provides the cooling
source, ensuring uniform temperature to all samples.
CoolBox™ XT workstations are highly adaptable and ideal for a variety of applications. The modular design enables the use of several different general purpose or automation-friendly (SBS-footprint) CoolRack® and CoolSink™ sample modules that accommodate microfuge tubes, cryovials, PCR plates and strips, u-bottom plates and flat bottom tissue culture plates. This is the perfect tool for cleanroom environments where the use of ice is highly undesirable.
When working with frozen samples, load the optional XT Freezing Core into the CoolBox™ XT and process or transport your frozen samples for over 8 hours. Or, place dry ice in the base and create a compact, ultra-cold (-78 °C) snap-freezing station for bacteria, virus, proteins and more.
CoolBox™ XT general purpose and automation-friendly workstations include the outer CoolBox™ XT housing (base, collar and lid), a proprietary dual-phase XT Cooling Core, and a CoolRack® or CoolSink™ thermo-conductive tube or plate module.

To use: Simply freeze the XT Cooling Core or XT Freezing Core in a -20 ˚C freezer. When frozen, insert the Core into the CoolBox™ XT base and place a sample module on top of the Core. XT Cooling Core will provide over 16 hours of 0.5 to 4 °C cooling; XT Freezing Core will provide over 8 hours of -20 to 0 °C freezing.
