Tergitol™ 15-S-9 is a non-ionic surfactant that is a secondary ethoxylated alcohol.

It is an alternative to the detergent most commonly used for isolation, purification and analysis of membrane components, Triton X-100. This surfactant has high solubilisation potential, with maximum retention of biological properties in many cases.

Tergitol™ 15-S-9 is suitable for the solubilization and characterization of many enzymes, for the study of membrane proteins such as photosystems, ion channels and receptors, for the permeabilisation of cells, for electrophoretic and chromatographic separations of proteins, etc.
